The optical design is based on the porro prisms and delivers a clean image with good rendering of shadows. Due to the phenomenon of total internal reflection loss of light is minimal. Multilayer, ruby lens coating, (color glare) coating acts as a filter in bright Sunny weather, with insufficient lighting improves light transmission, without distorting colour. Wide field of view (8,6°) provide excellent visibility and panoramic observation.
Angular mesh in the right eyepiece allows you to estimate the distance to objects with known dimensions. Since the Soviet Union in all Russian binoculars used the same type of angular mesh, made by fine engraving on one of the inner glass surfaces. A small division of the grid corresponds to 18, a large 36 minute angular or linear size in 1/100 (10/1000) distance. Therefore, in front of the 2nd great division is the figure 20, opposite to 4th - 40. These numbers, called the passport "units", are actually thousandths distance.
